My friends from Miami have taken me to areas of the world I never would have thought I’d visit. After graduation from graduate school, S moved out to Portland, Oregon to begin his career as an architect. Our intimate group of friends who had met in the architecture program at Miami had been hosting reunions and 2015 found us traveling west to visit S. S generously hosted us in his small abode, equipped with an outdoor shower and fully-stocked vegetable garden. We spent our days wandering the streets of Portland, admiring the creative boutiques and multi-modal systems within the city, as well as hiking in more rural areas in Bend and soaking in the fresh Pacific coast air. We drove past Mt. Hood and through vast open fields with emerald and navy colors in the background from the forests and shadows of the mountains. I think it’s about time for another Miami Reunion!
